Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 15, 2026

1. Introduction

We (Sean Corrigan and BurritoSoft) are the developers of the video game "Athrú" (the "Game"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we capture, use, share, and retain your personal information when you play our Game.

By playing Athrú, you acknowledge the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. How We Capture and Collect Data

We collect data in two primary ways: Information you provide directly (if any) and information captured automatically via technology.

  • Data Captured Automatically: When you launch Athrú, the Game software automatically interacts with Epic Online Services (EOS) APIs. This process captures your Epic Account ID and Network Identifiers (such as IP address) to authorize your session.
  • Gameplay Interactions: During a match, the Game automatically captures Usage Data (card plays, scores, win/loss conditions) and synchronizes this data with other players in the session.

3. The Types of Data We Use

To provide the core gameplay experience, we process the following categories of data:

  • Identity Data: Your unique Epic Account ID and display name.
  • Technical Data: Internet Protocol (IP) address, device operating system, and unique device identifiers necessary for establishing peer-to-peer or server connections.
  • Game State Data: Temporary match data required to synchronize the game between players.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use the captured data for specific, limited purposes based on our legitimate interest in providing a functioning game and performing our contract with you:

  • To Provide the Service: We use Identity and Technical Data to authenticate your ownership of the game and connect you to multiplayer sessions via Epic Online Services.
  • To Facilitate Gameplay: We process Game State Data to calculate scores, validate rules, and determine match winners.
  • To Ensure Security: We may use Technical Data to detect cheating, enforce fair play, and prevent unauthorized access.

5. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share your data only with specific third parties required to operate the Game:

  • Service Providers (Epic Games): We share your Account ID and Technical Data with Epic Games via the Epic Online Services (EOS) SDK. This sharing is strictly necessary to facilitate matchmaking, achievements, and platform authentication.
    See: Epic Games Privacy Policy.
  • Other Players: In a multiplayer session, your Display Name and Game State Data (e.g., the cards you play) are shared with opponents to allow them to see your actions.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Data Retention Policy

We adhere to a principle of data minimization. We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy:

  • Ephemeral Match Data: Game State Data is retained only for the duration of the active match. Once the match concludes, this data is discarded from our active processing memory.
  • Third-Party Retention: While we do not maintain a persistent database of user profiles, our service provider (Epic Games) may retain authentication logs and achievement data according to their own retention policies.

7. Your Legal Rights

Depending on your location, you have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data.

Because we do not store a persistent database of User Data, the most effective way to exercise these rights is often through the platform provider (Epic Games) that maintains your account. However, you may contact us directly if you have concerns about data processing during active gameplay.
